Caption: These photos are from November 17-18, 2005, when videographer Leo Greene, reporter Sara Carter and myself traveled along the U.S.-Mexico border to Tijuana, Tecate, Campo and other places while on assignment for the paper. The days were hectic and long and Leo, a veteran of many documentaries from before his time at the paper, took everything like a pro. Sometimes I had to push myself not to be out done by the guy, as he would jump into any situation without fear. Eventually, I came to watch out for him, too, making sure he had snacks or breaks, as he was coming to terms with diabetes. I learned a lot about Leo on that trip and respect his craft greatly.
